Central Valley, Costa Rica

The Central Valley, as the name suggests, is located in the heart of Costa Rica, in proximity of the capital San Jose. Coffee cultivation began here at the end of 18th century before spreading to other parts of the country.

Central Valley coffee farms are situated between 900 and 1.600 meters of altitude and benefit from the region’s the well-defined wet and dry seasons. This combination of altitude and climate affect the quality of the beans, particularly, their acidity.

Central Valley is also famous for its volcanic soil, which is rich in organic matter and promotes a good distribution of roots, humidity retention and proper oxygenation. These characteristics add strength to the plant and are one of the many factors contributing to the superb quality of Central Valley coffee.
